Palliative Care

Palliative care is defined as medical treatment which does not seek to cure but to comfort and alleviate the physical symptoms and signs of disease. We almost all know someone who suffers from a chronic, incurable disease, a good example being Diabetes. Our beloved pets are no different and there are many cases where palliative care is warranted, examples being not only Diabetes but osteoarthritis, chronic skin disease due to allergies, or congenital deformities such as hip dysplasia.

Many of these conditions are easily managed by your primary care veterinarian, but in cases where transporting your pet is difficult or your veterinarian has exhausted their treatment options, Evergreen Veterinary Services is ready to assist you with the home care of pets with chronic, incurable disease. The goal is the comfort of your beloved friend which can be achieved through environmental, physical, and psychological betterment. Working as a team, you, your pet, and Dr. Melanie Culver will design a treatment plan to improve the quality of life of not only your pet but yourself as well. The disease may be incurable, but it need not be unbearable.
